They're finally done!

Saying my middle son takes his time doing things is, well.....no comment ;)
(don't know where he gets that from ;))
In the Spring, if you remember I found a Totem Pole
at a yard sale and picked it up for him.
He has finished his makeover!
It looks so much better.
He researched colors and their meanings for this type of thing
and painted accordingly.

Here is the before

And here is the after

I love it!

A couple months ago he was with us on our
hunt and he spied a metal cabinet that he had to have.

He's done a makeover on it also.

Before

After

It looks much better sanded and painted.
He plans to put his TV on it in his room.

But as you see....

they both are still on the deck :(

Fertilizer Friday ~ 11/12/10

Another week has flown by and here we are at
Fertilizer Friday over at Tootsie Time!

Be sure to visit and see what's happening in every one's gardens!

My First Lemon!!

My poor Orange that was damaged this Spring.
Remember half of it got broken?
I ended up leaving the Orange on.
I think I should have removed it, it really hasn't grown a whole lot.
But the Tree is holding it's own.

Some old bush Roses are still blooming

So are the Carpet Roses

The Oxalis likes the cooler temps

And last but not least,
a baby Rose shows off ♥

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Nostalgic Curtain Tie Back

Yes, Yes, I'm just about done with the living room. It has taken me much longer than I expected. Not all was my fault....
I had long interrupters
which provided me with long interruptions.

But all the walls have been painted in Behr Mid-day Mocha.

The Cornices also made it up.
These were in my Grandmother's room growing up.

The balloon valances (dating my decorating here!) came down
and sheers went up
with not 2 on each window but only 1.
These windows are small and provide the only natural light for this room.
The sheers provide just the right amount of covering.
The window on the left has the hot tub on the other side, which I want somewhat covered but yet be able to see out to the yard over the top.
I've left it down and not pulled back at all.

The window on the right looks out to the deck.

I wanted this one pulled back but wasn't sure what to use.
Then thought of one of my Grandmother's brooches.

It worked perfectly.

Don't cha just love the faraway look on the Royal Copley little buckaroo
planter that belonged to my Mom?

Most, but not all frames for my Family Photo Wall
were painted different shades of white, then distressed.
I did scale back on the photos some.
Using a couple of my fav old windows on the right wall
I used the individual panes as frames.

I used a few delicately crocheted doilies and hankies
behind a few of the photos and in unused panes.

Some of my collection of vintage door hardware punctuate in between.

I finally made time to cover my switch plates.
I'm usually taking requests.
Unfortunately my photos aren't the best.

My vintage spoon racks hold Mom's and Grandma's hankies.
A couple of mine from when I was little too :)

After more white paint and sanding
they hold the hankies beautifully
with room left for more :):)

 The hallway is done too,
but that's for another day.

Update and a Few Finds

First I want to thank everyone for all the prayers
and well wishes for The Hubbs.
All your support and prayers mean so much to me.

He had an angiogram on Saturday.
It showed one narrowing that was 8.6,
they go in and fix at 8.
So for now his meds have been adjusted,
which should take care of it.
He is home and doing well now.
He says he has quit smoking (it's been 2 days).
Hopefully he means it this time.
He frustrates me so!
He had quit smoking in 2001 after his 1st stent.
The last year, 2009,
after they went in to add another stent (the first one had clogged),
he started smoking again. GRRRR!
Since he started again he's been back in the hospital twice.
Both times, according to the Drs., directly related to the smoking.
So fingers crossed he will quit for the final time.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

OK
On to my Treasure :)

Be sure to visit these wonderful Ladies,
you won't be sorry!

Since I spent most of my weekend in the hospital,
I didn't get to go out and about much.
BUT my oldest and his Fiancée had a yard sale this weekend.
On Friday I took over a load to donate......
Actually, I wanted first dibs! ;) LOL

Aren't these silk flowers pretty?
2 bouquets for me :)

I also scored a huge bag of candle wax
(hmm, how'd she know I was thinking of making some candles?),
2 box fans and a portable heater (ready for Summer and Winter),
2 new packs of Tea Light Candles, one peppermint, one cinnamon.
Sorry no pics of those.

As I was leaving I spied this thingie on an old gate (I think)
leaning against the side fence.

I caught my eye because I thought it was a stirrup.
But it's metal, I thought all stirrups were wood?
I told Brandon to take it off and sell it. LOL
He said you want it?

Well, yeh, but try to sell it first.
He walked over a ripped it off (see the wood still attached!)
and put it in the back of the van.
Yes, I did a little happy dance in my head!!

Haven't thought of where to put it...yet.
But it's cool!
Would make a great hose bib,
if I needed one.

But no worries.
It will find a forever home in the garden somewhere ;)
