With sandy beaches, clear blue water and palm trees,
this looks like a spectacular and luxurious sun-kissed resort.
Holidaymakers can be seen relaxing in
swimming shorts and bikinis.
Even the occasional flamingo can be spotted.
But, not everything is as it seems at The Tropical Islands.
With sandy beaches, clear blue water and palm trees,
this looks like a spectacular sun-kissed resort

Fun: Despite appearances,
not everything is as it seems at Tropical Islands

The 'resort' is actually located on the site of a former Soviet military air base in Krausnick, Germany.
Tropical Islands is inside a hangar built originally to house airships designed to haul long-distance cargo. And despite it looking like temperatures are through the roof - outside the giant hanger it is actually snowing.
As these incredible pictures show, the resort contains a beach, a lagoon, water slides with adventure park.
Guests can enjoy numerous restaurants, evening shows and can also relax in a sauna.

Indoor: Tropical Islands is located inside this giant hangar - with the actual weather a far cry from the conditions inside

Cold: Snow surrounds the giant hangar
which houses Tropical Islands

Relaxing: Visitors can be seen swimming
in the lagoon at the resort

A range of options are available for stays,
from the basic to luxury.
Accommodation includes quaint looking cottages
and even beach tents.
As well as flamingos, free-flying canaries
also fly around the site.
It is believed that the hall which Tropical Islands is located in, is the biggest free-standing hall in the world.

Popular: Tropical Islands attracts up to it's capacity of 6,000
visitors a day and in its first year attracted 975,000 visitors

Accommodations: includes cottages

or in one of the beach tents.

As well as the thousands of visitors each day,
approximately 500 people work at the site.
Tropical Islands opened to members of the public in 2004.
Incredibly, the hangar is 360 metres (1080') long, 210 metres (630') wide and 107 metres (321') high;
tall enough to house the Statue of Liberty.

It's Spring..I think

We received some rain
The sun has been shining
And now we are blooming!

Daffodils and

Narcissus are blooming all over.
Purple and

 white Lenten Roses blooming together.

The name escapes me at the moment of this pretty little plant

Good thing I took these photos last week. This is the 2nd day of blasting wind, which is to continue thru the weekend. Plants have been whipped to death. Blooms are in the wind. Wish I had gotten the time to pick some prior to this nasty wind :(
Poor Cyndar is so scared if the wind (who'd a thought a Great Dane can be so scared of so many things?! But I love her dearly. Let's see how long she can "hold it'' this time. Her record is 2 days!)

NO Speak English

A Russian woman married an American gentleman born in Virginia and they lived happily ever after in his home town.
The poor lady was not very proficient in English, but did manage to communicate with her husband. The real problem arose whenever she had to shop for groceries.

One day, she went to the butcher counter and wanted to buy chicken legs. She didn't know how to put forward her request, so, in desperation, clucked like a chicken and lifted up her skirt to show her thighs. Her butcher got the message and gave her the chicken legs.

Next day she needed to get chicken breasts, again she didn't know how to say it, so she clucked like a chicken and unbuttoned her blouse to show the butcher her breasts. The butcher understood again and gave her some chicken breasts.

On the 3rd day, the poor lady needed to buy sausages. Unable to find a way to communicate this, she brought her husband to the store...

What were you Thinking?

Her husband speaks English....hellooo!

I worry about you Sometimes!

Kill the Wabbit

It seems not all of us love the Easter Bunny....

Maybe the Easter Bunny should bring
some dog treats along with the candy and Easter eggs

Just sayin'

The Craft Room Hop

I've really been busy with "real life" but made time to make a few things:

like this "sea foam" bracelet. Love the color of the glass
and the way it hangs

Some rag eggs (from those quilts)

a nest in a cup holding a button covered Easter Egg

and some mason jar chimes for Summer.
When the Sun hits the chimes covered with gems
is gorgeous and sparkly!
