I Did It! I Did It!

I have wanted a conservatory/display case/terrarium
or whatever you call it forever!
After seeing how to make one with old picture frames in
 Country Living Magazine,
I thought I may have a chance at making one.

I hit the Dollar Tree for picture frames - 4 each - 8x10s and 5x7's
I picked up braces, hinges, there too!.

I didn't do it exactly like they did,
I wanted a "rougher" look so I used
corner brackets to hold the frames together.

Looking good, all four sides are together.

Now they didn't put a bottom on it,
but I wanted to be able to move it and it's contents should I need to.
I didn't have wood (besides it would make it heavier)
so I used my all purpose cardboard! LOL
Tacked it to the bottom and
voilĂ !

I debated whether to add the sides to the roof.
I've seen them both ways.
But the extra cardboard was sitting there looking at me so I did.
Of course, they used real boards ;)

All together!
Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
It didn't "fit" exactly right,
when the roof closed it wouldn't close all the way down on the frame.
But a small hook and nail fixed that!

Painted white, of course.

You can see a "line" in the cardboard, but it doesn't bother me....
I'm NOT a perfectionist! LOL

Now ready to decorate for the Season!

My Bottle Brush Trees and a Snowbaby seem right at home

Add a couple Bottle Brush Wreaths, snowflake, pearl Candy Cane
and Prism and there you have it.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
And much cheaper that buying one ♥

And I can change it out with the seasons :)

Oh and don't forget the faux snow!!

Wedding Plans

More decisions have been made!!
WOO HOO!

We went to taste the offerings at the venue
to decide what would be served.

What a meal we had!
Everything was DELISH!
We had:
Rosemary Chicken
Tri Tip with sauce (forgot name)
Pasta Pesto
Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Brandon and Tanya chose the Rosemary Chicken and
Garlic Mashed Potatoes (which are to die for by the way!!!)
Italian Salad and Garlic Bread will also be served.
Yummo!!

Tanya revamped the Centerpieces.
They are even prettier ♥

She brought one to see how it would look on the table...
for height and width, etc.

She has done such a fantastic job with them.

She also made a decision on the Bridesmaids Dresses,
separates were chosen.
This top is slightly different than the one she picked.
And this is not her colors...
Her colors will be Pool and Lettuce.

We needed to get Melissa in and measured before the end of Dec.
so while we were in the neighborhood
we ran over to the Bridal Store after the taste testing.
All measured and paid, we left feeling that things were under
very good control.

That lasted until the next day....

Tanya received a call from the Bridal Store.
Evidently Alfred Angelo had discontinued the separate line
a few months ago and failed to notify the store!
The saleswoman found out when she went to place the order.
Unbelievable!!

So poor Tanya is back to square one.
She needs to find the Bridesmaids Dresses by the end of Dec.
in order for them to be ready by June.
Just what you want to be doing during the Holiday rush..NOT!
Feel so bad for her.
But at least it wasn't 'her' dress!
Feel bad for the Store too, but...
Tanya was kind enough to go down and get our money back
Thanks Tanya!!

But the show must go on!
Here is the Flower Girls Dress

It is sooo cute!

While at the Bridal Store I thought I'd better start looking for me.
I've always wanted a dress with a handkerchief hem...not that I had any place to wear it....but I do now!

I like the style of this 2 piece.
It's the wrong color and
way the wrong size (top too big/skirt too small)
but tried it on to get an idea.
Boy do I need to lose weight!!!

It is also from Alfred Angelo...so kind of leery that they may have discontinued one or both pieces.
But I need to get to the Mall and get serous about finding something.
Geesh, I haven't even worn a dress in years!
Wish me luck :)

Prayers are Answered...

Brandon, my oldest, suffers from ankylosing spondylitis.
Ankylosing spondylitis is a long-term disease that causes inflammation of the joints between the spinal bones, and the joints between the spine and pelvis. It eventually causes the affected spinal bones to fuse together.

Ankylosing spondylitis is also a systemic disease, meaning it can affect other tissues throughout the body. Accordingly, it can cause inflammation in or injury to other joints away from the spine, as well as to other organs, such as the eyes, heart, lungs, and kidneys.

He has already lost almost all mobility in his shoulders. During a flare up, he has at times, developed such a pressure behind the eye ball it feels like they are being pushed out. His hands swell so much his joints turn white. All his joints hurt badly. It's so hard to see such a young man, especially when it's your child, go through this and not be able to do anything to help him.

His rheumatologist has put him on Methotrexate (a chemotherapy drug), which after several increases, seems to be helping with the pain. He also takes a folic acid supplement is taken in order to help suppress possible side effects.

He didn't escape the poor economy and was laid off, so therefore has no medical insurance. Luckily he has very understanding doctors. His primary care physician, who doesn't charge for his visits and his rheumatologist who gives him a break on lab costs.

Humira was brought up by his rheumo doctor as the next drug to try. It should help with the severe fatigue he experiences. The cost of this medication is $1600.00 per month. The doctor referred him to the Abbott Patient Assistance Foundation. After making sure he was eligible physically, he was accepted!
What a relief!!
Abbott will be delivering the medication free of charge!!
Amen!

We are all so thankful to Abbott and all his doctors.
Fingers crossed these medication will help in his current condition and help prevent any further deteriorating.
