My tax return

 

I just received my tax return for 2013 back from the IRS. It puzzles me!!!

They are questioning how many dependents I claimed.

I guess it was because of my response to the question: "List all dependents?"

I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads;

42 million unemployed people on food stamps,

2 million people in over 243 prisons;

Half of Mexico; and 535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate."

Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.

I KEEP ASKING MYSELF, WHO THE HELL DID I MISS?

This really bugs me, 



The Black Bra



The Black Bra (as told by a woman)

I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends. One is engaged, one is a mistress, and I have been married for 20+ years. We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men by greeting them at the door wearing a black bra, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. We agreed to meet in a few days to exchange notes. Here's how it all went...
My engaged friend :
The other night when my boyfriend came over he found me with a black leather bodice, tall stilettos and a mask. He saw me and said, 'You are the woman of my dreams. I love you.' Then we made passionate love all night long.

The mistress:
Me too! The other night I met my lover at his office and I was wearing a raincoat, under it only the black bra, heels and a mask over my eyes. When I opened the raincoat he didn't say a word, but he started to tremble and we had wild sex all night.

Then I had to share my story:
When my husband came home I was wearing the black bra, black stockings, stilettos and a mask over my eyes. When he came in the door and saw me he said,

Hair Care Tips for Colored Hair

Name one woman who has never been concerned about her hair. We are always trying to make it look more beautiful, healthier, more thick, more bouncy, more lustrous and just more gorgeous.

Summer can be one of the most difficult times for our hair. Between heat, swimming, beach, products, etc. it doesn't stand a chance.

Here are a few basic hair care tips to improve the health and looks for your curly locks ♥

• Do not wash your hair too frequently, as it will wash out the color quicker.
• Use a shampoos especially meant for colored hair, as they are designed especially for the purpose and do not strip away color from your hair that fast.
• Make sure to apply a good conditioner every time you wash your hair, this will help maintain the luster of your hair . This will not only prevent your hair from becoming dry, but will also moisturize it, securing the color.
• A good option to get that sheen in your hair is to go for a deep conditioning with hair oil treatments, at least once a week. For a long lasting effect, apply conditioner in your hair and wrap a warm towel around it to let it seep into your hair.
• If you spend a lot of time outdoors always wear a hat to save your hair from the harmful rays of the sun. This is because sun not only dries your hair but also fades the color. As an alternative, use leave-in conditioners on your hair, when going out. They contain sunscreen, which will guard against the damaging effects of the sun.
•  Always use color enhancing conditioners, which help to keep the color intact and even help in blending it in root areas.
• Do not use a brush for colored hair, as it tends to break hair much more. Instead, use a wide-toothed comb, which will even check the occurrence of split ends.
• Colored hair should be air dried rather than blow dried, as it saves it from damage and breakage

Meatless Mondays

We needed to use up some leftovers in the fridge so I decided to make some Burritos. The kids love just about anything I throw together they really like.  

 I had a couple Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lover's Burgers leftover from the night before, so I just crumbled them up and used them. Here's the ingredients I used up.    

Left Over Breakfast Burritos

Leftover Morningstar Farms Mushroom Lover's Burgers, crumbled up  

Leftover onion, diced

1 tbsp. garlic, minced

shredded cheddar cheese
eggs
corn or any leftover veggies
8 ~ 10" flour tortillas

Salsa (optional)

 Saute all ingredients except eggs and cheese on medium high heat for 10 minutes. Add eggs; cook until eggs are done. Wrap in flour tortillas and add cheese. Fold into burrito form. 8 servings.

Very tasty! We thoroughly enjoyed them

A great way to use up leftovers, you can stretch it for last minute guests.  Great for dinner too.

Spring Weather

Yes, I believe Spring weather has arrived here

in the central valley of California!

The fruit trees are in bloom,

 the bees have been placed in the orchards, 

and I am doing my darnedest to get in the mood.

My favorite time of the year too. 

So many unpleasant things going on I guess....

I decided to head to Pinterest and see what I could find to inspire me to get outside and enjoy the weather.

Shh, don't tell anyone but my front door still has Christmas on it!

A few Holiday decorations linger in the house too.

Not like me at all. Yikes!!

Since I do have Snowmen on my front door, I thought I'd better start there. After all, that's the first impression right?

This old rusty water can used as a vase would look awesome.

But the HOT afternoon sun hits the door, so probably would have to use faux flowers.

But do love the fresh cuts.

 What a great and darling idea this is!!

Our retired seniors   Living on a 'fixed income'   Receive no aid. Nor do they get any breaks while our government And religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions Of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food To Foreign Countries! We have Hundreds of adoptable Children who are shoved aside To make room for The adoption of  Foreign orphans. AMERICA: A country where we have   Homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without needed medication and mentally ill without treatment, etc. YET....................... They have: A 'Benefit' For the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations,   Ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies. Imagine if The *GOVERNMENT* Gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries. Sad isn't it?

Time for a little cottage get together over at Etsy Cottage Style

I'm not sure if I'm the only one whose kitchen table is usually covered with whatever project the kids are currently working om...especially these days, now that the are grown. When they were little it was cute...now not so much.

It's currently covered with tattoo equipment and parts to a game controller...

No, the two don't go together. 2 boys, two different interests.....

So needless to say ~ tables capes don't happen in this home :(

 For that reason I will be sharing one of my fave pieces of furniture with a few of my Mom's dishes displayed on it.

Even when I was little, I always had my eye on a corner hutch we had. I thought is was so neat, maybe because of the shape, as I had never seen one like it before. Both my Mom's and my Aunts and Uncles up at the Ranch had built in hutches. I never thought about where it came from (we always had a little but of everything, Dad didn't toss anything away and people were always giving him stuff they no longer wanted or he would bring home things from the junk pile at work. Hmm sound familiar?

Anyway Dad kept some of his tools in it. Didn't really pay attention to what type for tools, I was just interested in this wonderment ~ the corner hutch. Every time I would feed the Ducks I would stand there and just stare at it. It's home was outside under the chicken house roof that extended beyond the building it self.

Years passed.

The time came to clean out our farm.

The first thing I thought of was that hutch. That hutch that was out in the weather, the one full of tools! By now I was much, much, much  a little older and couldn't imagine how he could have left that beautiful (in my eyes) hutch out in the weather to be ruined! Much less store tools in it!!

I headed down the lane to the old Duck pen and there it was. leaning against one of our 3 chicken houses in the same place it had always been.  I took out all the tools and pulled it away from the building.

It could still stand by itself...UPRIGHT! I was so surprised. It had been years since I had been down there and had expected to find a wood heap. But it was in pretty good shape for being out in the weather for 50 yrs so long! So I hauled it home in my most favorite car ever, my van. ;)

When I got it home I took it out in the backyard and gave it a bath, a real good bath. Sure it needed a paint job, was a tad wobbly and "someone" thought I was crazy for bringing that "hunk of junk" home.

At least my kids believe in me ♥

B was still living at home at the time and helped me to re-glue and reinforce it in the back. Great idea to reinforce it in the back with new wood so that all the original wood could still be seen in front. Yes, on one side the wood is warped and wavy, but I liked it like that!

All the wonderment this piece had, Where did it start out? Who had owned it prior to us? As I scraped the old paint off it changed from one color to the next. Each owner putting their own "stamp'' on it before it moved on.  Now it was my turn.

We have a small kitchen and no dining room.

We have a "farm" table in the kitchen with some inherited chairs from my great Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents along with a couple of benches. 

There is only one corner where anything could be put,

all the others have cabinets and then the entrance.

B and I placed it in that one corner and it was a perfect fit....

it was meant to be.

Just the right size ~ wasn't too big or too small, just right.

So here it is with some of my favorite dishes that belonged to my Mother in it.

Isn't it sweet!

Nothing fancy, just as full of charm as one can be.

I painted it all white and added a lilac bouquet decal at the top.

That's my Grandma's long white apron hanging on the right side.

It's still hard for me to believe that I fell head over heals in love with a piece of furniture when I was about 5, and that it would eventually end up being mine.

 One day I was visiting Dad at the Board and Care Home he was in and we started talking about it. He had gotten it from our neighbor when I was a child.  Mrs Haynee was going to take it to the dumps. Dad snagged it before that could happen, of course.

Hmmmm, sound familiar? (yes, again)

I'm still here............



February flew by faster than a speeding bullet! Between every one's Dr. appointments, therapy appointments,  psychiatry appointments, court appearances, and CPA appointments for taxes I seriously had no me time. Needless to say we are still in limbo regarding the divorce, so what's new. 3 years and same o same o. Well, enough of that nonsense. 

Hoping March will calm down a bit, but will probably be busy too. In between getting ready for Easter, one of my best friends will be visiting again from Wyoming. So, busy, just a less stressful more happy busy.

So no I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth.

That darn real life stuff just gets in the way sometimes.

Wishing all have had a wonderful Valentines Day...better late than never, right?

 

We did have some fantastic news on the B&T front! They bought their very first house!! So excited for them! Everyone showed up to help with the move, then left them with ALL those boxes! LOL I'm sure they will have everything in it;s place soon. I do have pics but they will have to wait for another post.

Dad had some of those old orchard ladders from my Grandmother. I wanted them so badly, but they, not even one, would fit in my van. I pushed it up through the middle to the dashboard and it still hung out too far even to tie a red flag to it :(

Oh well, wasn't meant to be.
