A Funny Thing Happened on the way to.....

......our last stop.
While waiting to turn left, I was rear ended.
Yup, my first accident EVER!
No one was hurt, thank God!
Just shook up.

We had a nice motorcyclist/witness (Thanks, Ray!) stop
and provide a statement.
By the way the lady that hit me was on her cell...of course!
All has been taken care of and I already have my Town & Country back. Yes!

Our last stop was a visit at The Merced Agricultural Museum.
We really didn't know what to expect....
figured cases with old ag equipment, early implements, etc.
Well, let me tell you we were in for a treat!

Now I love anything old. The rustier the better.
Not sure why, maybe it's the history
or the stories it could tell if it could talk.

This place was so interesting...it reminded me of my parents farm.
Every nook and cranny had something to see.
It is owned and operated by a sweet older man
It is his collection...and what a collection.

I'm going to go through this in several posts,
otherwise it would be way too long!

The first building had some neat stuff...
but no ag items....

a tellie...

the smallest Singer I've ever seen.

we were ohhing and ahhing all over the place!
Check out this sweet doll buggy

remember these?? My parents had one when I was little.
I remember sitting and watching it...

oh for about 5 mins. it moved so s l o w.

The we started to see some umm...interesting? things

need a bath?

a perm??

and don't forget a mani!

and with that I will leave you to ponder what I will show you next ;~)
Be sure to click on the photos to make the bigger
so you can see the full extent of these treasures.

  1. I am so glad that no one got hurt in your accident!

Love all the torture devices! I do have to say that the birthing chair made me cringe a bit. I remember those perm machines. I don't think I ever saw one in action though. Talk about a Medusa head!

  2. It takes you back, doesn't it? I love the bell and the Singer sewing machine, but the others? Well, forget that birthing chair and the perm? Mercy...scary stuff
    God Bless

  3. Glad you're OK, Deb!!!
LOVE this little tour! I'm aging myself here, but I recognize some of these things from my Grandparent's and Great-Grandmother's homes. Of course, they NEVER threw anything out, so some of it was already old when I saw it. :)
Hope you have a wonderful day - can't wait to see what you share next!

  4. scary, I am glad you are ok!!!
what interesting and scary stuff, loved the tour!!!

  5. Hi Deb, Glad that no one was hurt. I am so glad that you are sharing your pictures. It really takes me back to my childhood. I love the old things.I will be looking forward to more of your pictures.

  6. What an amazing place! That looks like the kind of place I could just get lost in for hours and hours.

So glad you didn't get hurt. Stupid cell phone junkies!

    So nice to meet you!

    Have a wonderful weekend,

  7. What an amazing array of vintage stuph you found! Thanks for sharing. I'm relieved to know all's well after your accident. I marvel that folks STILL continue talk on cell phones while driving, thinking it's okay after all the information we've learned.
    Hugs and blessings,

  8. Ok, the perming machine and birthing chair look like instruments of torture from the last scene in Brave Heart. My goodness. Can you imagine having to get in that thing to bring a life into this world...without an epidural.

  9. No way that's for perming! I'm sorry about your car :(

I'd love for you to leave me a comment. Helps me to know I'm not totally crazy...like my family thinks I am!
