If My Body Were a Car........

 This is just so funny - scary how true it is!  

 (and, if it's not true yet, rest assured it will be).

If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model.   I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull...

But that's not the worst of it . 

My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins..

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed.   My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it ... 

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter, Either My Radiator Leaks or My Exhaust Backfires!

More Lazy Gardener Tips

While laying in bed last night I was thinking of some other things I do for my garden. I thought you might benefit from them too.

And best of all they are FREE!

After steaming or boiling vegetables I save the water, 

let cool, then water a plants with it.

I usually look for the one that doesn't seem happy. This water contains a lot of nutrients that gets left behind by the cooking of the vegetables.

Another "eggselent" (sorry, couldn't resist!) nutrient rich water is left from making hard boiled eggs. Just like with crumbling the shells into the garden, this water provides the same nutrients but in a much more milder degree. Many years ago when I had a slew of houseplants and no yard, I used to keep a large lidded pickle jar filled with water under the kitchen sink. I would add eggshells to it from time to time, let sit and water my houseplants.

Leave the shells in the jar and refill with water. When it got so smelly that I couldn't stand it I would change out the eggs and start again. My plants were very happy!

Now we know I'm lazy but I also hate spending money when I can get what I need for free and it works so well. Take a look at my garden and I think you'll agree...this lazy gardener does OK =)

Fun Fall Decor ~ Easy Potpourri Pie Craft

Want an easy gift that smells wonderful and looks like it took you days to make?!
Or one that looks like you bought it a boutique gift shop?
 Look no further ~ make this potpourri pie!

What you will need:

1 cup of flour

1 cup of salt

Water

Pie tin (any size)

Potpourri

Butter knife

Directions:

Mix together flour and salt, mix in enough water to
form a workable but not sticky, dough.

Heat oven to 250 degrees.

Roll out the dough into a large circle approximately 1/4" thick,
 just as you would for a regular pie.

 Line tin with the rolled out dough.
Wrap up leftover dough for later.

Cook pie crust for 30 minutes.
Let cool.

Fill cooled crust with potpourri.

Take remaining dough scraps and roll into a large circle.
Cut into strips for lattice top crust.
Dampen dough to "glue" down to already cooked crust.
Trim ends.

Let top crust dry for 1-2 days.
Decorate pie anyway you like.

 Ideas include: fabric, ribbon, dried apples, cinnamon sticks....

It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere!

Yes, I jumped on the Flip Flop Bandwagon!

I usually don't like to follow trends, but these were just too darn cute and brought back the good memories of living in Miami.

I'm on a mission of using what I have to try to thin out supplies, at least some!

I grabbed a green foam wreath base I've had for - oh maybe 5 yrs I'm ashamed to say. But when I saw it at a yard sale for 10 cents, what are ya gonna do?!

I wrapped it in pink ribbon in case the form happened to show through.

It brings to mind the movie "Tangled" but in a different plot twist - like that pun?

I shuffled my flip flops back and forth, placing the matching mates directly across from each other, until I was pleased with the patterns.

3 pairs were hot glued in place for the first row.

Another reason for the ribbon ~ I could use hot glue between the flip flop bottoms and ribbon without worrying it would melt the styrofoam wreath base.

Next the top row of 3 pairs were glued onto the first row. They were glued in the open spaces between the bottom ones ~ to fill in.

Then the fun part ~ embellishing!

I had some sparklies I used to bling them up a bit

I had picked up a couple pairs of sunglasses for Izzy and Brand for the next time they're here...gonna have to replace those!

Added some ribbon too.

Then the thing that had been circling my mind the whole time - 

my "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" sign I picked up at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Key West!

Perfecto!

Flipped it over and tied a string for hanging.

Real high tech, can't you tell? LOL

And out to the front door it goes!

I love it!

It was easy, fun and cheap!

If I didn't have it,

 it came from the Dollar Tree,

of course!
