What's Blooming in This Heat?

We are still in a heat wave here.
The heat loving plants are enjoying it,
the others...not so much.

One of my climbing Roses.
It's 17 yrs old now, it was a slip from my Mom's garden.

The came from her garden also.
They are some type of bulb.
I love the color.

The Water Lilies love the Sun.

Blue Potato Bush (Solanum rantonnetii)

These Cannas are from my Parents garden too.
Ye, I know they need to be trimmed....
just too darn hot out there!

I love this pink Ivy Geranium.
It is also from my Mom's garden.

My poor wilted Swiss Chard :(

About 75% of my garden is from my Mom's garden,
which is why it means so much to me.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I know what you mean about certain plants being special. Not only do I swap plants with friends (and I know which is "Nancy's" etc.), but I have a few andromeda bushes from my parents' home that are now over 50 years old.

    Thanks for your visit!

  2. Pass along plants are the best! I think of the person every time I look at a plant that was given to me.

  5. My flower garden is dyeing fast. Perhaps I should water it more often in this heat!!! ;)

Your flowers are still looking lovely Deb!

  6. Beautiful...love the rose it glows. The nice thing about plants from a Mom's garden is you don't have to figure them out - you already understand them.

  8. How great to have these items from your mom's garden! For us, it was the other way around. We moved a few hundred miles away and I dug up various plants beforehand to add to my mom's garden. They were special plants to me and now I know they are taken care of by someone who loves and appreciates them as much as I did.

  12. Hi Deb, It's so nice that you have beauties from your mother's garden to enjoy. The climbing rose is gorgeous. Hope it cools down for you soon so you can get back outside and enjoy being in the garden.

  13. Hi Deb
The extreme heat this year has certainly made the expression 'do or die' applicable to our gardens. I see a couple of things in mine that may not be here next year.
How nice that you have several plants from your Mom's garden, I'm hoping my daughters will want some of my things at some point.
    Have a great weekend.
