2 ways to Make a No Sew Face Mask

New CDC recommendations endorse using face masks when in public to help combat Covid-19. Many DIY designs are circulating that you can sew at home. Those needing something easier, or lacking a sewing machine, have used t-shirts, scarves, and bandanas — shown to be less effective than an N95-rated product, but still much more useful than nothing at all.

Here are 2 ways you can make a face mask with absolutely no sewing.
You can make a no sew cloth face mask with two elastic pony tail holders and a bandana, or any piece of cotton fabric and even rubber bands.

You'll need a bandana or other fabric
and 2 pony tail holders or elastic bands

Be sure your fabric is 100% cotton.

#1     Lay flat and fold each end to the middle

Flip over

Do the same thing again - bring each end to the middle

Get your pony tail holders

and slide one over each end,
about the 1/3 of the way in.

Fold each end over the pony tail holder toward the middle

Place one end into the other, pocketing one end
into the folds of the other.

You can adjust the top

and the bottom
to cover to cover your nose and mouth.

#2      Fold bandana in half

fold in half again

Slide a pony tail holder one over each end,
about the 1/3 of the way in.

Fold each end over the pony tail holder toward the middle

Place one end into the other

pocketing one end
into the folds of the other.

Slip the pony tail holders over your ears

adjust the bandana to cover your nose and mouth.

This is not a medical-grade mask by any means, but if you’re an asymptomatic carrier of Covid-19, it can help reduce the spread of the virus. An additional suggestion to add a paper towel or coffee filter to its interior may also increase its capabilities.

  2. In the beginning I told everyone I knew they'd better wear a mask, well lots of them laughed and made fun of me because I am a germaphobe and they added that the CDC didn't recommend it. Ok, breathe in the virus I thought!! Now, everyone wants a mask because the CDC said we ought to wear one. I wish the CDC would make their minds up and stop flip flopping!! Thanks so much for linking up with me at my #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 11, open April 1 to 26. All entries shared on social media if share buttons installed. 1. I know right! I have a penchant for grabbing them at yard sales. Dad was a farmer, always carried one - either navy or red, not the fancy colors they have today. I just grab, I think it's the pattern that reminds me of him. Usually do a craft or make something. Think I have more somewhere in my stash, need to go Treasure Hunting in my own things! LOL Stay safe, Stay well ♥

  8. I have been using my SO bandanas to make these. When we come back home, we simply drop the bandana into the laundry basket and I make 2 more! Beats sewing! (Although I do sew).
