Skip the hassle and expense of a “destination” vacation this year. Here’s how to make your summer break memorable without breaking your budget.
Do your research
Pretend you’re a new visitor to your area. Contact your local tourism office and search the web for attractions in your area. You may be surprised at the variety of day trip options you’ll discover.
Stay home
Make a list of places your family wants to visit, like museums, theme parks, sporting events or festivals, and plan one trip for each day of your staycation. Include movie or game nights at home too.
Indulge a little
A day spa treatment or a unique local meal can mean the difference between a memorable experience and an ordinary road trip. Let the kids pick out special toys or treats too.
Take a vacation from housework too
Order in or dine out instead of cooking. Consider hiring a cleaning service for a day so you don’t have to clean the house after your staycation is over.

I'd love for you to leave me a comment. Helps me to know I'm not totally crazy...like my family thinks I am!
