Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall

be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

A Garden in Motion and I won!!

To me a garden isn't a garden without birdsong.
Sparrows,

Goldfinches,

House Finches,
Bluejays,

and other assorted birds are frequent visitors
especially when the wild Sunflowers go to seed.

And adding some of your own doesn't hurt either ;)
My Parakeets in the outside aviary my Dad made before I was born.

Other  natural activity makes the garden alive.
Love my Dragonflies

My photo made it into

Praying Mantis have been considered beneficial
but they also eat other beneficials.
They are still cool though.

Adding a water element makes your garden serene.
The Koi in my pond can make a bad day brighter.
By simply watching them it relaxes me.
Watching fish in aquariums have been proven to
reduce high blood pressure and stress,
I would imagine these would too.

My largest Butterfly Koi, "Angel"
I love to watch her fins float and
move so effortlessly in the water.

My other  Koi

This one is a 3 year old baby that was born here in the pond.

Angel and one of my Sister's babies she gave me
that is about 7 yrs old

 Feeding time :)

The whitish one is a sibling to the other baby from my Sister.
If you look close you can see an all black baby in the center of this photo. It was born last Spring, a year old now. A surprise since it's so dark we didn't even know it was in there until it grew!

The Falls drowns out most of the neighborhood noise.

And of course I couldn't leave out Boris, his feelings would be hurt. Natasha is hiding out. It's "The Season of Love" and Boris has only one thing on his mind!

A few Chuckles - Because I Need Them as Much as You do ;)

Children.....Gotta love them.....

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother's lap and walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man's, he said, "I know how you feel. My mom makes me ride in the stroller too."

*****
As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing.

After mulling over my answers, she remarked, "My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them."

*****
Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old Granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. "In ten years," I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends and you won't go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now."

Carolyn shrugged. "In ten years you'll be too old to do all those things anyway."

******
Working as a pediatric nurse, I had the difficult assignment of giving immunization shots to children.

One day, I entered the examining room to give four-year-old Lizzie her needle. "No, no, no!" she screamed. "Lizzie," scolded her mother, "that's not polite behavior." With that, the girl yelled even louder, "No, thank you! No, thank you!"

******
On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson innocently said to my son, "Dad, I know babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?" After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust, "You don't have to make up something, Dad. It's okay if you don't know the answer."

*****
Just before I was deployed to Iraq , I sat my eight-year-old son down and broke the news to him. "I'm going to be away for a long time," I told him. "I'm going to Iraq ." "Why?" he asked. "Don't you know there's a war going on over there?"

*****
Paul Newman founded the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children stricken with cancer, AIDS, and blood Diseases. One afternoon, he and is wife, Joanne Woodward, stopped by to have lunch with the kids. A counselor at a nearby table, suspecting the young patients wouldn't know Newman was a famous movie star, explained, "That's the man who made this camp possible. Maybe you've seen his picture on his salad dressing bottle?" Blank stares. "Well, you've probably seen his face on his lemonade carton." An eight-year-old girl perked up. "How long was he missing?"

... And my personal favorite ..God's Problem Now:

His wife's graveside service was just barely finished, when there was a massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance. The little, old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, "Well, she's there."

A smile - is a sign of joy.
A hug - is a sign of love.
A laugh - is a sign of happiness.
And a friend like me?-Well that's just a sign of good taste!
We'll be friends until I am senile.
Then we'll be NEW Friends

A Thank You to My Friends ♥

Vitamin F......

I loved this and wanted to share it with you..

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character?

How can I get along with them all? I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me.

With one of them I am polite. With another, I joke.

I sit down and talk about serious matters with one.

With another I laugh a lot.

I listen to one friend's problems.

Then I listen to another one's advice for me.

My friends are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

When completed, they form a treasure box.

A treasure of friends!

They are my friends who understand me better than I understand myself. They're friends who support me through good days and bad. Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health. Dr. Oz calls them Vitamins F (for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends as essential to our well being.

Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes. If you enjoy Vitamins F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age.

The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments, it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%.

I'm so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!
In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them.

We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together in the tough moments.

Thank you all for being my best Vitamins!

How many flowers are sent to a person when she expires and

How many flowers did she receive while she was alive??
A dead nose can't smell a rose.
These flowers is for you

GOD TALKING TO ST. FRANCIS

God:
"Frank, you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions, violets,? milkweeds? and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan.

Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now. But, all I see are these green rectangles."

ST. FRANCIS:
It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers 'weeds' and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.

GOD:
Grass? But, it's so boring. It's not colorful. It doesn't attract butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms. It's sensitive to temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?

ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.

GOD:
The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.

ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it-sometimes twice a week.

GOD:
They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?

ST. FRANCIS:
Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.

GOD:
They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?

ST. FRANCIS:
No, Sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.

GOD:
Now, let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?

ST. FRANCIS:
Yes, Sir.

GOD:
These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.

ST. FRANCIS:
You aren't going to believe this, Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it, so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.

GOD:
What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. It's a natural cycle of life.

ST. FRANCIS:
You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.

GOD:
No!? What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?

ST. FRANCIS:
After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.

GOD:
And where do they get this mulch?

ST. FRANCIS:
They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.

GOD:
Enough! I don't want to think about this anymore. St.. Catherine, you're in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?

ST. CATHERINE:
"Dumb and Dumber", Lord. It's a story about....

GOD:
Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.
