I made Cranberry Sauce for New Years.
My very first time making it from scratch, it was delish!
But, of course, I made too much.
I didn't have time to figure out what to do with it at that time
and didn't want to waste it,
so I threw it into the freezer.
The other day I came across it...
sometimes my freezer turns into a black hole!
Does yours do that too?
Since we love all kinds of Fruit Crisps,
I thought I'd add it to my Apple Crisp recipe to use it up.
Fingers crossed..it worked!
.
4 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced (I used what I had and didn't peel)
1 1/2 cups whole berry cranberry sauce
1 cup flour)
1 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine, melted (butter if you prefer)
1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
2.Place apple slices in an 8 or 9 inch square baking dish. Spread the cranberry sauce over the apples. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples and cranberry sauce, covering completely.
3.Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until apples can be easily pierced with a knife and topping is browned.
Gathered all my supplies and got to town.
MMM It was so yummy!!
Will have to remember this for next year.
Hi Debbie, I just finished dinner and it looks so yummy. I had never thought about using cranberry sauce, but we to like all kinds of fruit crisp. I have been reading, but just a little busy lately with hubby and doctor appointments. It has been frustrating. Take care Hugs from Your Missouri Friend.
