I'm linking to Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday, Thanks Tootsie!
We finally made it to one special spot in Pacific Grove, CA.
Every time my friend visits, we would try to get there
but we would run out of time or something always same up.
Why you say would we want to go to this little town near Monterey?
Well, because it is know as
Butterfly Town USA!
This seaside community is an overwintering haven
for thousands of Monarch Butterflies.
Each year in November, they return from the north
to the special protective microclimate
of the Eucalyptus Trees and Monterey Pines
On mild days when the sun shines through the trees, the Butterflies
warm up enough to flutter and flit about performing entertaining
They stay until February, the largest clusters are seen mid-December.
We visited at the end of their overwintering season
The Monarchs aren't the only thing that are gorgeous,
There are several places to stop and sit.
So cute!
I hope you're not getting bored...
we have a couple more stops before we're done!

ReplyDeleteEverything here is just beautiful!! Love the Monarchs!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to visit! Close to Atlanta is a place called Calloway Gardens and they have this super huge dome with plants on the inside. That is their butterfly garden area, and you see so many different species. Although what you saw is nature providing it free!

what a fantastic post on a neat place. a few years back the butterfly population was huge here...the monarchs were doing a migration or something and there were thousands of them here! It was very neat to see...

I've heard of this place but never had the opportunity to visit. Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful butterfly views (and benches too). I've been having trouble visiting because Mozilla keeps crashing (It seems I have a faulty WLAN card) ... but I'm doing what I can this morning catching up in my reader before clicking over to comment. I'm glad I didn't miss this post ;-)
